“I find it beautiful that a craftsman can make things perfect, while a 3D printer can’t.”

Alan Nguyen (b.1986) is an American artist and designer currently working and residing in Amsterdam. He graduated from the University of Houston's Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture + Design in 2011, specializing in digital fabrication. Alan started his career as a designer at the pioneering 3D print design studio, Freedom Of Creation, where he was introduced to the world of 3D printing. Since 2014, Alan runs a design and research studio called Space Junk, focusing on creative collaborations using digital design tools and 3D printing technologies with a human touch.

Immersed in digital landscapes and navigating various dimensions, scales, and perspectives, Alan works in a dynamic and boundary-free space for conceptual exploration. His passion extends beyond the digital realm to hands-on craftsmanship, where he brings imaginative concepts to life in the physical world.

Embracing the digital realm, Alan's artwork is inspired by the wonders of nature, seamlessly blending the virtual and tangible. His portfolio ranges from spontaneous experiments to overly contemplated un-finished works trying to better understand the concepts of space, time, and his identity in this universe.
